Let's Make a Difference

I'm Chris Baier. As the most senior member of town council, I have the vision, know-how and track record to lead Hideout into its next chapter. Let me earn your vote for mayor!

WHY I'M RUNNING

UNMATCHED EXPERIENCE

I'm ready to meet this moment for Hideout with deep experience with our town and an understanding of how to get things done.

  • Community volunteer and participant in city government since moving to Hideout over 10 years ago.

  • 8 years as an elected member of Hideout's Town Council.

  • 7 years Mayor Pro Tempore--the acting mayor each time the elected mayor was absent. â€‹

  • Founder and leader of the Parks, Open Space and Trails (POST) committee, responsible for the public trails you enjoy in Hideout.

COMMUNITY NEED

Hideout's population is up 75% over the last 5 years. We have everyday growing pains (like roads and safety) that need to be balanced with a long-term vision to preserve what's special about our town.

In conversations with Hideout residents, two primary needs always come up:

"Enhance the value of our homes, recognizing the significant investment we've made in Hideout"

"Improve our everyday lives with more amenities and more community connection"--the best parts of living here!

My priorities reflect those needs.

MY TOP PRIORITIES

When elected, I'll bring a clear, focused agenda to make a difference for Hideout.

SMART
GROWTH

I'll ensure we develop the right residential and commercial opportunities.

  • Support high-appeal, high-value housing that boosts property values

  • Accelerate the build of permanent Fire Station 56 for faster fire and EMS response

  • Secure a quality grocer at Richardson Flat

SAFER
ROADS

I'll improve safety on roads both into and throughout our community.

  • Install a turn lane and stoplight on Highway 248 at Shoreline Drive

  • Use fencing and other mitigation to reduce wildlife collisions

  • Manage speeds and maintenance on town roadways

QUALITY
OF LIFE

I'll continue my passionate pursuit of shared outdoor and community spaces.

  • Expand and connect our trail systems for both hikers and cyclists

  • Work to create an all-community gathering space for regular events and activities

Putting My Experience
to Work

I GET THINGS DONE

How I've Made a Difference
for Hideout

LAND EXPANSION
I've demonstrated a vision for growth and sustainability by strategically increasing the land inside of Hideout's boundaries.

Adding Deer Springs subdivision created a local road and trail connection to Jordanelle Pkwy (even before that road was constructed).

I championed the Richardson Flat annexation area that enables Hideout to have a future town center.

INFRASTRUCTURE

When we lacked robust broadband, I agreed to franchise only the fiber internet providers that would impose no cost and no obligation to the town. â€‹

NEW TOWN REVENUES

I've worked with the members of the Utah state legislature, UDOT, Department of Natural Resources and others to bring outside funding to Hideout's initiatives.

I approved the inclusion of Hideout neighborhoods into the MIDA project area (the development that you see unfolding other side of the Jordanelle). This will generate millions in additional city revenue over time.

OPEN SPACES

I founded the Trails Committee that built Jordanelle's Keetley, Wada Way and Perimeter Extension trails at no cost to taxpayers, thanks to state funds, grants, collaboration with local nonprofits, and dedicated volunteers.
